Press-centre / News,
EkoNiva-Semena, a seed growing and plant breeding company within EkoNiva Group, participated in the agricultural exhibition KazAgro 2022, which took place in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, on 12-14 October. More than 100 agricultural producers visited the company’s booth at the event.
EkoNiva-Semena has been supplying seeds to Kazakhstan for more than 8 years and has increased the sales volumes by several times. For the entire period, the company has delivered over 22,000 tonnes of high-quality seeds of different crops to Kazakh farming enterprises including 5,000 tonnes last year. The customer base features 300 partners by now and keeps on growing.
‘KazAgro exhibition is a venue for productive meetings and negotiations. Moreover, it is a good environment for networking and finding customers and partners. Every year, EkoNiva portfolio is supplemented with new crops and varieties. The company has a lot to offer from different regions of Kazakhstan. By the way, positive feedback from local farmers prove our good performance here’, says Marina Balashova, Marketing Department Manager at EkoNiva-Semena.
Zenchenko and Co farming enterprise located in North-Kazakhstan oblast started cooperation with EkoNiva in 2019. The enterprise purchases the seeds of spring wheat, barley and oats is planning to order also seeds of alfalfa and other crops.
‘First, we bought EkoNiva seeds for trial. We were satisfied with the grain quality and crop yield. The varieties feature consistent gluten content amounting to 25-28%. The average crop yield reaches 3.2 tonnes per hectare. Besides, the best fields planted with Licamero and Kanyuk wheat varieties yielded 5.4 tonnes per hectare. Considering the climate conditions and drought proneness of our region, it is a great result’, says Aleksandr Shklovskiy, Chief Agronomist at Zenchenko and Co.
EkoNiva’s varieties of intensive type respond well to fertiliser and chemicals, moreover, the crops have valuable properties. Despite the arid climate of Kazakhstan, they demonstrate consistently high yields.
EkoNiva is always ready to offer its novelties including those of in-house breeding.
‘At the exhibition in Astana, we presented EN Argument soya beans requiring a sum of active temperatures of 1,900°С. This variety is suitable for the soils in the north of Kazakhstan. We give out the seeds for free to anybody who wants to carry out trials on their farm’, says Willi Drews, EkoNiva Consultant, Doctor of Agronomy.
At KazAgro 2022 trade fair, the visitors of EkoNiva’s booth had an opportunity to talk to the company’s experts and get advice on the crops and varieties suitable for soil and climate conditions of a particular area. The exhibition proved to be productive as usual: the company signed several contracts for seed delivery and reached numerous agreements on cooperation.
