Spring Agronomy Academy, an educational programme designed for students, has ended at EkoNiva’s enterprises based in Voronezh and Novosibirsk oblasts. In total, 29 undergraduates from 14 Russian agricultural universities participated in this project.

The future agronomists had a week full of intensive lessons which comprised team-building events, lectures and hands-on classes. They scrutinised the ins and outs of plant breeding, seed growing, fodder preparation and cultivation of soya beans, lentils, alfalfa and oilseed flax.

Roles of modern machinery and digital solutions in agriculture were up for discussion as well. The students were introduced to Eko.Crop — a system worked out by EkoNiva’s professionals. This software accumulates operational data on each field, activities carried out in it, employees and machines involved. In a nutshell, it provides a possibility to have a look at the list of field tasks performed at a farm on a given date.

‘This educational project has brought a great deal of new and useful knowledge for me, which will come in handy in summer during my internship on the premises of EkoNiva’, says Darya Chudosvetova, a student at the Russian State Agrarian University - Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy.

Following the results of Spring Agronomy Academy, EkoNiva’s specialists awarded souvenirs to the best students. More than a half of all the project participants decided to apply for a summer internship at the company’s enterprises.
